He studied law at the Complutense University (1957). After being banned in the diplomatic service because of his political activities, and despite having approved the opposition, he received a Doctorate of Law from the UCM (1966). He made another doctoral thesis in Political Science at the London School of Economics about John Stuart Mill (1965). In London he came into contact and collaboration with economists like Lionel Robbins, and philosophers like Karl Popper, whom Pedro Schwartz Gir\u00f3n considers his own master. He also completed the LSE in London and earned a Masters degree in Economics (1972). After his return to Spain, he worked in the Research Department of the Urquijo Bank before obtaining a spot in the Research Department of the Bank of Spain (1967). He became the History Department chair of Economic Doctrines of the Complutense University of Madrid. Since then, he has been a Professor at the Complutense (1970-1992), the Autonomous University of Madrid (1992-2003) and, currently is at the University San Pablo- CEU in Madrid. In 2003, he entered the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, and in the same year, received the King James I Award. Since January 2012, he has served as Chairman of the Economic and Social Council of Madrid. Politically, he founded and led the small Liberal Union after the Liberal Party in 1983. Representing this formation, he became the acting Deputy in Congress in 1982, playing the role of Speaker in the Commission of Economics for the Popular Coalition, which the UL had built during the Second Legislature (1982-1986).
