Manuel Alabart Fernández-cavada

 
Manuel Alabart Fernández-Cavada, born in Madrid on September 13, 1947, is a Spanish diplomat. He holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Diplomatic School of Madrid. He has been posted in the Spanish diplomatic representations in Iran, the United States and Portugal, serving as Commercial Counselor. He has been Director of Economic Relations with
Eastern Europe and Spanish Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea (1988-1991), Malaysia (1992-1996), Argentina (2000-2004), Saudi Arabia (2005-2009) and Mexico (2009-2013). In 1996 he was appointed Director General of Foreign Policy for Africa, Asia and the Pacific from that year until 2000.
Promoted to Ambassador of Spain in December 2013. After requesting leave of absence from his diplomatic career, he was appointed Vice President of Técnicas Reunidas in February 2014.
